CHE LINGO DISTANCE

Fresh off his debut UK ‘The Risk Is Proof Tour’, Che Lingo is already back in the studio cooking up more solid tunes with producer Kadiata. First off the pass is ‘Distance’, which was clearly inspired by Che’s time on the road and how that can put a strain on existing relationships. As the London artist says of the song: “It’s a song about the metaphor of  long distance relationships, you can live with someone and feel far apart (mentally) or be miles away (physically) and feel like their always right next to you.  It’s a fleeting romantic confession song.” The minimalist beats and melodic guitar in the track’s opening gives real clarity to Che’s honest lyrics, and once he’s got you on side with these catchy lines, the musician’s full confessions comes into play with a strong rap verse. This artist’s ability to confidently handle big topics, whether that’s going in on music industry imbalance in ‘Same Energy’, discussing the idea of masculinity with Mick Jenkins on ‘No Sidekicks’, or sharing his own experience on long distance relationships is why Che Lingo is a British hip-hop artist on the way up. Listeners can relate to him, and that’s all anyone wants; to feel heard; to be seen. - Hannah Thacker
