CANSHAKER PI PRESSURE FROM ABOVE

RIP Records have unearthed yet another indie-rock gem as part of their monthly introducing series with Canshaker Pi's 'Pressure From Above'. Existing somewhere between the guttural guitar riffs of British indie royalty The Cribs' and Pavement's iconic American slacker-rock sound, the Dutch four piece have already attracted the attention of their heroes, securing tour support for the aforementioned Cribs tour next month as well as receiving compliments from Steven Malkmus himself. Discussing the track front man Willem Smit said: “’Pressure From Above’ embodies the loneliness of being in large groups of people at night. Staying in bars too long on a daily basis resulting in a feeling of progresslessness.” Contrary to Smit's fears of stagnation, if 'Pressure From Above' is a sign of things to come, we've got no doubts that Canshaker Pi will be going places fast. -HLMX
