‘No Illusion’ is the new single from South London indie-soul six-piece Candy’s Room. It’s a smooth, memorable track that blends a warm analogue sound with stomping northern soul textures and string melodies. There is an off-kilter psychedelic influence running through the track too, with the shimmering falsetto delivery of Natty colliding with bright piano chords and groovy guitar chops, which help the song to lean into dancey territory. They explain that it is “about the fragmented state of music in the digital age and the inferiority complexes you can develop after being on social media too long.” Keep an eye out for more from Candy’s Room in 2025. -Dan Peeke
