BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD CONCORDE

Eclectic octet Black Country, New Road's long-established normcore aesthetic has largely consisted of stock footage invoking youthful nostalgia, until now. Created to give further life to their uplifting recent single 'Concorde', this cinematic new video is a joy to witness. Directed by the talented and increasingly in demand Maxim Kelly, the clip takes inspiration from the title of the band's forthcoming sophomore album Ants From Up There. Starring an extraterrestrial insect figure, who, crucially, knows all the words to the song, the analogous video intentionally mirrors the band's notably referential lyrics. Resulting from a mutual trust and respect, Kelly elaborates: "We took the 6 minute+ runtime as an asset. It gave us the time needed to weave as much as possible into the film. A walking video in parts, but also with a narrative running through. We combined miniatures with VFX, and flanked the film with Archival footage. The band were so supportive and amazing. They gave us the encouragement to just go off on one! And being a massive fan of their music, it was a genuine pleasure to work with them on this film.” Watch it here now. -Holly Mullineaux
