Drifting towards a more peaceful state as she develops as an artist, long-standing TMR favourite Art School Girlfriend has announced her sophomore album Soft Landing alongside its subtly euphoric lead track, 'Close To the Clouds'. Cloaked in chorus and reverb, Art School Girlfriend pairs watery bass, reminiscent of Warpaint, with tight, rhythmic elements, bringing an alternative 80s/goth-inspired sound bang up to date. Trentemøller and Tycho also spring to mind as blissed out synths interact with the hazy electronic composition, but it's Art School Girlfriend's stunning and instantly-recognisable vocals that lead you comfortingly through the piece, like a friend holding your hand on a smoky dance floor.
