Experimental artist Moor Mother releases a video for ‘Temporal Control of Light Echoes’, from her dark and atmospheric album An Encyclopaedia Of Black Air, out on Anti- Records. Visual artist Ghazal Majidi animates strange CGI contortions and that shift across the screen, building and dissipating, blending imagery that is both ancient and mythical and futuristic and sci-fi. These image provide the perfect backdrop to Moor Mother’s distinctive preacher-like flow and dark poetry, her words mimicked by an auto-tuned distorted echo and set over rattling percussion and deep bass synths. Easily one of the most innovative artists around at the moment, Moor Mother’s prolificness is hard often hard to keep up with; serving as lead vocalist for political jazz collective Irreversible Entanglements and punk duo MoorJewellery, cofounding the Black Quantum Futurist Collective and collaborating with some of the best artists and musicians around. -Toby Evans-Jesra
