Our favourite synth whisperer Hinako Omori welcomes the new year with a beguiling new single via Houndstooth. As its title suggests, 'A Journey' is a transportive piece that draws you in for the ride. It's also the title of her newly announced debut album, which will arrive on the 18th of March. Masterfully manipulating complex arpeggios, hushed vocals punctuate the track, with soaring backing vocals and snippets of spoken word adding both surreal and grounding elements. There's a feeling of transformation as the track progresses as chords slowly change and momentum increases towards the end. Throwing in a little detuning for good measure, 'A Journey' is an inspired and slightly unusual single that's indicative of Omori's talents. Listen here now. -Holly Mullineaux
