BRÅVES DUST

Little is known about recently formed LA-based BRÅVES, although their desire 'to raise awareness for lesser known causes’ is certainly admirable.  The trio's debut single “Crush” was penned for Kristin Davis-fronted documentary Gardeners of Eden, a film chronicling the fight to end elephant poaching in Africa. After dropping a flurry of tunes over the past few weeks including the electrifyingly soulful 4/4 banger ‘Juju’ and the James Blake-esque, minimalist ‘Phantom of Youth’, their latest cut ‘Dust’ is all sparse, lonely piano with euphorically sad harmonies and luxuriant stillness.  Whether BRÅVES’ penchant for sporting hooded monks’ cloaks is a direct nod to the mystical nature of their music is up for debate, but the hushed urgency of '...though my heart may take its time, I still believe in love’ weaves its way through ‘Dust’ like a transcendent meditation.  We're converts. -AO
