Here in the music blog world, we love a good origin story and it doesn’t get much better than a project and song inspired by a magical encounter with a waterfall in Martinique. Described as “humbling power, sacred shower” by the Belgian (of Martinique and Guadeloupe descent) artist Charlotte Adigéry, aka WWWater, this track comes as a stunning reinvention of a talent who previously introduced herself as simply Charlotte and also featured on Soulwax-related record label DEWEE’s mix under her full name. With this new project however, Adigéry becomes an otherworldly force to be reckoned with. Her flowing, eerie falsetto is a hypnotising fix allowing the listener to swim in the stream of looped samples, synths and instinctual drum machine. While the experience of drenching oneself under a waterfall isn’t available to all of us, through ‘WWWater’ this underground talent generously pours liquid electronics and that solvent soulful voice through our speakers, forever drowning us in this blissful alternative dance debut. - HT
