Our favourite musical prodigy Tobias For Now is back with fresh new track ‘Fade!’, a purposefully lo-fi track which chronicles Tobias’ experience of adolescence. Crushes, insecurity, teen culture, and the knowledge that youth doesn't last forever, as he boldly states 'we crash and burn - fade!' The first half of this track is all spatially-aware guitars, lackadaisical beats and TFN’s raw, juvenile vocals that dip into Yeezy autotune every so often. That being said, as we know from our interview with Tobias, it's the new wave of hip-hop artists that the high school student finds kinship with - namely Kevin Abstract’s Brockhampton collective. It's the same sense of an outsider community we find in ‘Fade!’, it's not about "I" but "we", sounding a we-go-down-together attitude above all else. The latter half of the song brings in Tobias’ playful rap styles and laptop trap beats, leading into a dramatic finale of fuzz guitars, heartbeat rhythms and a symbolic fade out. - Hannah Thacker
