Recently signed to Island Records, electropop trio Sälen are tipped for big things in 2017. They recently played the Roundhouse Rising festival alongside BBC Sound of 2017 nominee Tom Grennan, and have earned themselves support from Radio 1, Spotify and Beats 1. The band are known for their cutting electropop, and new release ‘Heartbreak Diet’ is no exception. The lyrics are refreshingly direct and, delivered in vocalist Ellie Kamino’s dulcet tones, lines such as "I'm done with sticky people / That are too hard to pick out of my teeth" stand out for all the right reasons. As if you didn’t get the message already, the music video features Kamino dripping in diamonds while a body bag is carried out of her hotel room. Shot beautifully by i-D’s Lily Rose Thomas, it’s just as striking as the music itself. Catch Sälen slaying ex-es and anyone else in their way at their headline show on 14^th March. -HM
