Here at The Most Radicalist we’ve been fans of Saint Sister since their spine-tingling, Wizard of Oz-inspired video to ‘Tin Man’. After a six-month hiatus, the duo, consisting of Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty, are back with sultry new cut ‘Causing Trouble’. Describing their music as ‘atmosfolk’, the duo layer echoing synths and throbbing drums to great effect. This, combined with trembling harmonies with nostalgia-tainted lyrics like ‘but honey I know you, we danced to Elvis in the kitchen, at least we used to’, creates a gripping sense of intimacy and directness. With a new sound and that feels truly theirs, here’s hoping that there’s more ‘atmosfolk’ coming soon from Saint Sister. -HM
