You may have caught sight of young Mancunian band Octopus with their single ‘Happy Today’ recently here at TMR. We were drawn to this song, which harnesses the not-so-optimistic style we’ve come to know and love in the post-Brit-pop canon. Lucky for us, we’ve been asked to premiere the video for this shoegazey number and, fair warning, this is either going to be your new favourite watch or give you nightmares… either way we love following the adventures of these wandering misfits. Speaking about the video, Octopus share: “We wanted something whacky and weird to reflect the tune so came up with characters (balloonhead man, corduroy boy, sombrero dude and butterfly fred). We ended up getting our mates involved and having a party whilst filming so it ended up being pretty fun… apart for Fred who had to wear a crop top the whole day." Filmed by Connor Whelan around Manchester, the band say they’re not wearing their usual garms, although we like to imagine the Octopus four continuing to weird the city out with their butterfly wings and ponchos to this day.
