With heritage spanning Sweden, Malaysia and India, it’s no surprise that Nadia Nair’s music is genre-evading. Her debut album, Beautiful Poetry, earned her support from FADER, Vice and RedBull, and to build on the ever-increasing momentum she’s just delivered chillwave ballad  ‘IT DON’T STICK’. With touches of electronica, hiphop and R&B, Nair places bassy beats against warbling organs, pentatonic scales and noodling guitar riffs. The result is rich, complex and utterly unique. Nair’s vocals have an other-worldly quality to them too, her quivering vibrato wrapping around lines like ‘I don’t want to / Oh, but I got him / You kiss him several times but it don’t stick’. We can only hope that ‘IT DON’T STICK’ is a sign of more to come soon from Nadia Nair. -HM
