Sultry R&B queen Mabel is no stranger to the limelight. Her mother is legend Neneh Cherry and her father is Cameron McVey, Massive Attack’s producer. Yet Mabel looks set to steal the spotlight for herself with her wonderfully smooth R&B slowjams. Having had a relatively quiet year to date, Mabel has just announced a new EP, Bedroom, and ‘Finders Keepers’ is its first single. The track sees Mabel turn in a more cosmopolitan direction, and citing her mixed heritage of English, Swedish and Sierra Leonean as inspiration, Mabel pairs dancehall beats with sultry piano chords. The track features London MC Kojo Funds, and to complement the release Mabel has just announced a headline show at the iconic Village Underground on June 1st – bag tickets for what promises to be a sellout show here. -HM
