Zilo is a soul singer from London who isn't afraid to say it like it is. She takes music and art into her own hands with the colourful hand-painted album covers and now her self-produced music video for new single 'I Don't Wana Go Outside'. Zilo explains that the music video came about because I wasn't in the mood to socialise and have a bunch of people shoot a fancy video for me, so i did it myself instead. The video is wonderfully simple and intimate, as Zilo sings lying down on her bed, dressed in primary colours. She has previously expressed that "it is super important to learn to be comfortable in your own company and it’s something I do find myself talking about in my songs a lot". Rooted in down-tempo R&B, the new single is personal and cosy. Zilo's vocals are chilled out and full of soulful melisma, whilst her words throw light on her anti-social behaviour, frankly explaining "I’m antisocial in the winter cause I don’t wanna go outside". She also explores the stresses of modern-day socialising, which can ironically make you crave isolation: "Stop fucking calling, don't you know I'm private, why do you think I put my phone on silent, have to clear my mind". -Ellie Rose-Davies
