YURS RACE

There's still an appetite for the kind of edgy, lean guitar-pop that Londoners YURS are peddling, despite our lust for dark, shapeshifting soundscapes (FKA twigs, BANKS) and fragrant funk (Jungle, Ben Khan). The duo's debut cut 'Race' weaves springy pop hooks, lifted from Bombay Bicycle Club's fuller-sounding fourth album, and fidgety Everything Everything-style instrumental quirks into more classic indie tropes - there's a hint of Ash's and The Zutons's knack for a hooky, radio-friendly melody, a spattering of The Maccabees's charming storytelling, and there's even a Stone Roses-y shimmer to the guitarwork. We're excited to hear where their vibrant palette takes them next.
