Made entirely from pictures of singer Melati Malay's worldwide travels, Young Magic's new single 'Default Memory' is a tribute to both the places she's visited and the people she loves. Due for release on 13th May via Carpark Records, what starts as a unfurling swell of heavy electronics breaks into something softer, although the rumbling hum never strays that far from the surface. The mix of sweet vocals and the hulking fullness of the synth bed makes for a full-on, immersive experience, as the track engulfs you via headphones. With an artistic flair in both this offering and their previous tracks, the Brooklyn duo of Malay and producer Isaac Emmanuel are combining personal experiences and different art forms with memorable effect. - SJ
