WILLIAM DOYLE MILLERSDALE

Leaving his Mercury-nominated moniker East India Youth behind, William Doyle's newest musical offering 'Millersdale' is a deeply personal exploration of his suburban upbringing. Reflecting on conflicted feelings between safety and the desire for excitement, 'Millersdale''s psychedelic experimentation feels both nostalgic and innovative at the same time. Vocally channelling the likes of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, contrasted against an intricate bed of fluttering electronic elements and brassy swells, 'Millersdale' is a modern-day masterpiece built from layers that mirror the human experience.  The accompanying video, directed by Sapphire Goss captures Doyle's new perspective of the suburbs as a curious and complex subject matter, explaining: "The video creates a world hovering between a banal suburb and an uncanny memory. The contrast between dark and veils of glistening light in the film mirrors the song’s extremities: of the darkness of grief and overwhelming emotion, but also its exhilarating bursts of hope and potential." -Holly Mullineaux
