ULRIKA SPACEK FULL OF MEN

Ploughing full steam ahead towards the release of their new album Modern English Decoration next month, Ulrika Spacek wet our appetite with a culinary-inspired video for their latest single 'Full of Men'. The mildly disturbing clip follows a menacing eldery TV cook as she prepares various unappealing retro dishes. Loosely based on the infamous Fanny Cradock, our protagonist has a dark side as she is seen repeatedly weilding and caressing a pair of particularly sharp-looking metal scissors, which she then uses to aggresively snip away at sausages - look away boys! The band explain, “This song is a swipe at masculinity, and we were going to make a video quite literally full of men but we didn’t want to make something too obvious so ended up flipping the idea to play on the traditional female/housewife gender role in the setting of a cookery show, cutting up quite phallic things whilst under the male gaze of a camera man.” - HLMX
