Following the release of Happy In The Hollow back in January, London's TOY have announced an innovative collection of covers set to be released via Tough Love on the 15th of November. Consisting of 8 reimagined versions of some of the band's most influential tracks, Songs of Consumption, tackles an intriguing range of artists from The Stooges via Amanda Lear to Charlotte & Serge Gainsbourg. The lead track 'Fun City' is a subtly krautrock-inspired take on Soft Cell's eerie synth ballad from their more experimental 1981 album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. Pairing purist piano chimes with bleating synth sounds and galloping guitar parts, cooly delivered vocals and airy harmonies elevate the track as a fizzy drum machine keeps the tempo.
