TOM TRIPP PAMELA

Considering the impact that 21-year-old North Londoner Tom Tripp has had over the past eight months since airing his ludicrously good demo of ‘Aurelia’ online, you’d be surprised to learn that ‘Pamela’ is technically his first official single. We say technically, because you’ll also find another enticing demo called ‘T.A.M.’ from two years back that’s picked up loads more listeners lately and a collaboration with Mura Masa in the form of ‘Headline’. This time around, the self-taught bedroom producer, songwriter and singer has joined up with the Danish band LISS to bring their affection for groove and insatiable hooks to the production. ‘Pamela’ is sprinkled with Nigerian drums, vocal samples, shiny piano keys, Michael Jackson-esque breaths, timekeeping trap beats and whole host of other sounds that make up the heady atmosphere of Tom Tripp’s frustrated love song. Likely to grace many a playlist, the release of ‘Pamela’ also comes with the exciting announcement that Tripp will be playing his first live show at Hoxton Bar Square & Kitchen, London, on October 25th. - HT
