Despite being only the second single from her debut EP (titled Hidden Gems and due for release on February 4^th, 2019), Tasha Angela has already demonstrated an incredible skill for songwriting. This track, ‘Undescribable Feeling’, sounds personal before you even take lyrics into account; distant, often dissonant piano chords form most of the accompaniment, until the thudding bass and a drum kit combine to reflect the heaviness of the depression-focused lyrics. The track isn’t all doom and gloom, however, and Angela has spoken about its uplifting side: ‘Undescribable Feeling is about pulling yourself out of a dark place. I came home after a bad day, sat at my piano and words began flowing out of me. I hope this song can help others who are feeling down in life the same way it helped me’. The video that comes alongside the track shows a haunting dance performance from Virgilia Griffith. Despite its abstract appearance, Griffith has explained that the song played an important role in her interpretation, stating that the ideas of ‘self-conflict, not feeling safe in your own body, and the struggle to emerge from the voice’ inspired her.
