We first started writing about TARANTINA when she was going by her other alter ego, Wray. Her excellent, twisted stalker anthem 'I Am A Loner' had us - and almost 50,000 SoundCloud listeners - hooked, despite the total lack of information online. Anyway, one significant name change later, and TARANTINA is back with another spectacular slice of creeping electronic music in '1/9'. This one is a little less subtly threatening than 'I Am A Loner', rather than muted guitars, we're treated to some grinding synths and heavier percussion, but that soulful swell to her voice still remains and pushes this one beyond the throwaway electronic-pop trope. TARANTINA is one of the few genuinely enigmatic newcomers we have, both in terms of her music and her aesthetic. A talent to be celebrated. - DC
