SWEATY PALMS QUEER FATWA

Glaswegian trouble-makers Sweaty Palms have released their politically-charged debut single 'Queer Fatwa' as part of this month's RIP Records Introduces series. The unusually titled track takes its name from Guardian journalist Jon Ronson's explorative novel Them, which delves into the secret world of extremism. “The phrase is hysterical, it’s just not two words you imagine to see together,” say the band. “The rest of the song is loosely based around extremism, from Islamist militants to the dirty gringos of the western world.” Musically, it sounds a bit like a bar fight between Fat White Family and The Amazing Snakeheads. Noisy guitars wail like sirens over the relentless rhythm section, as guitarist and vocalist Robbie Houston battles to be heard above the organised chaos. You can pre-order the RIP Introduces... compilation here now ahead of its release at the end of the year. -HLMX
