LIST PICK

STILL CORNERS THE MESSAGE

Picking up where the sublime 'Black Lagoon' and 'The Photograph' left off, dream-pop wanderers Still Corners have shared the final single from their imminently-arriving new album Slow Air. True to form, singer Tessa Murray's vocals glide effortlessly above a slow-grooving bass line as other-worldly synthesizers pepper the track. With a distinctively more Americana-inspired guitar sound than their previous works, the London ex-pats seem to have well and truly soaked up their surroundings, having set off on a pilgrimage to the vast landscapes of Texas Hill Country to record the album. As the lyrics suggest, "'The Message' is a song about leaving someone and telling them on voicemail," and whilst it's steeped in sadness it's an ultimately soothing listen that'll set you up for a fresh start. Slow Air comes out this Friday (August 17th) via the band's own Wrecking Light Records. -Holly Mullineaux
