Beginning with quiet inflections over a hovering synths and sparsely delicate piano, you understand the protagonist's position: “Before you leave / Could you say the words you keep / With your heartache hidden well?” You get the sense that these lyrics are not words said aloud, but the inner thoughts; the desperate wishes of the heartbroken.
