SINEAD O'BRIEN LIMBO

Following the success of her Speedy Wunderground single 'Taking on Time' and its philosophical follow up 'A Thing You Call Joy', Irish poet turned frontperson Sinead O'Brien has dropped another intriguing cut. Titled 'Limbo' the track pairs primal beats with wiry, unhinged guitar lines and biting bass guitar. Mirroring the title's sense of static, the repetition of the lyrical question, "Do days like this hurt the head or do days like this help?" has an almost certainly intentional Groundhog Day effect. Arriving alongside a cinematic video directed by Saskia Dixie, O'Brien explains: “She focuses on in between moments, giving importance to a change in expression, lighting, a gesture, a personal habit. The themes in the film continue through to the editing style, focusing on reflecting the swirl of thoughts that can exist in the mind at any given moment. This feeling is visualised through the pacing of the cuts. A deluge of imagery floods the screen, pushing the audience to become embedded in their own mental state of LIMBO.” -Holly Mullineaux
