SHURA WHITE LIGHT

After a string of relatively quickfire, perfumed pop ballads, Shepherd's Bush artist Shura has eschewed the conventions of national radio with her latest track, the plus-seven-minute sprawler, 'White Light'. As much as we all adore the balmy grooves of 'Touch' and the Lauper-ish immediacy of 'Indecision', this latest cut happens to be the standout moment of the Polydor-signed producer-vocalist's live set, with Alexandra Denton's guitar cutting loose across the souped-up electronic stew of an outro. It's a bold major label single choice, no doubt, but that only makes us more in her thrall. - DC
