When we covered Show Boy's debut single 'Young Gun' a couple of months ago, it was clear they had a penchant for pop music. Their second single 'Empress' makes you wish you'd never thrown away your Sony Walkman as you're taken on a sassy and nostalgic trip back to the early noughties, which sounds something like a mash up of Daniel Bedingfield's infamous 'I Gotta Get Thru This' and N.E.R.D.'s party banger 'She Wants To Move'. It's catchy as hell, packing in bags of attitude as singer Jovis Lane's addictive pop-hooks reel you deeper into their modern glam-pop bubble. It's all intensified by Jovis and Pedro Caetano's pristine production, putting 'Empress' firmly in line to become another dancefloor classic. -HLMX
