SAINT PEPSI FALL HARDER

Be it breaking hearts with a nebulous, pitch-warped edit of Carly Rae Jepson's 'Call Me Maybe', or cranking out track-upon-track of hybrid R&B/electronica from the comfort of his bedroom, Saint Pepsi has remained something of a forlorn figure in the company of fellow post-chillwave and laptop-pop wizard like Ryan Hemsworth, Autre Ne Veut and Girl Talk.

It took the searing glare from recent cut 'Fiona Coyne's razor-edged hooks to wholly grab our attention - and the Long Islander is in no mood to let that slip on 'Fall Harder'. Repetitive coils of coruscating guitar bounce into staccato bursts of cherry-sweet synth as Ryan DeRobertis celebrates the prickly-heat tingle of a new romantic entanglement in his signature rhinal coo: "You've got me under your spell/and baby, I couldn't fall harder." It's a concentrated ray of celestial young love, fired through a bubblegum prism - and seeing the refraction feels like gazing up to a whole world of sugary pop possibilities.
