‘SAYIMGOOD’ comes from the mind of Ruben Dawnson as he builds up to his debut EP, Echo Emotions. The Norwegian singer-songwriter is known for his emotionally honest lyrics, while his musical style merges various experimental approaches with a bouncy appreciation for indie pop. This track opens with a blend of sound effects bordering on Musique Concrète before giving way to quick vocal melodies, bright guitar chords and bouncy percussion. He explains that “this song, like the whole ep, is very introspective. It revolves around the feeling of not being in a healthy state. It switches back and forth between singing to myself in third person, and from myself in first person, which symbolizes a certain duality and disorientation. Self-love and self-criticism”.
