Quarry claps back at our hyper-capitalist culture with ‘White Wishy Washy World’. It’s a powerful track marked out by plummeting bass lines, power-pop melodies, left-of-center production, sideways hip-hop beats and jazzy brass refrains. Also adding to the almost overwhelming mix is sing-shout vocals which rattles with frustration. Quarry hails from a small town on the outside of Oxford, and perhaps it’s this fringe perspective from living on the outskirts of a city that means he isn’t so easily seduced by material thinking.
