Colchester born and raised band Plaitum came into being when 20 year-olds Abi Dersiley and Matt Canham met at secondary school and began to share music tips from Massive Attack and Talking Heads. Way cooler than our experiences at 11 years-old, we were still trading Pokémon cards at that age. Anyway, Plaitum are a band on the up; having featured on one of Kitsuné's much-revered compilations, super-producer Paul Epworth was suitably impressed, enough to sign them to his imprint Wolf Tone for their debut EP. Pieced together by Epworth himself, 'LMHY' is the first track drawn from the record - a brooding, expansive, Purity Ring-ish thunderbolt packed with glitterbursts of synth, thumping percussion and Dersiley's sugared coo, it's already set the stage for one of our most hotly-anticipated releases of the winter. - DC
