PHOTOCOMFORT SLOWDANCE

Boston threesome Photocomfort have two members of Columbia-signed outfit Magic Man in their midst - Justine Bowe and Gabe Goodman - but their brand of pop is really quite a striking contrast, at least as far as we can tell from their debut track 'Not Love', and its followup 'Slowdance'. Along with third man Will Radin, Justine and Gabe have transferred some of the DNA of their old band - spluttering sunshine synth loops and thudding electronic drums - to Photocomfort, but the overall sound is a lot more lowkey and romantic, particularly on 'Slowdance' where Justine croons, "I'll be good to you," over elegant percussion and intimate guitars. Photocomfort are two for two, here's hoping they keep it going. - DC
