Not many know about Pheona, at least not yet, and we’re making a case with soothing song ‘All The Things I Know’, for why this little-known R&B artist should be on your radar. Hailing from London, one of the spiritual homes of the genre, Pheona’s style draws on the old school of sensual, slow-moving beats and soft-edged production. Taken from Love Garden EP, this track is largely based on minimalist percussion, subdued bass, glistening synth flourishes, and topping off this velvetine compilation is Pheona’s serenely soulful voice. With her textbook vocal, Pheona confesses her emotions; those of uncertainty; those of self preservation; of withdrawing from a relationship for fear of being hurt rather than embracing the possibility of love. It’s a deeply felt song, that you feel is harnessed from a genuine place of life experience and thereby the listener can’t help but being drawn into the authentic narrative of Pheona’s songwriting. - Hannah Thacker
