PET SHIMMERS POST-DICK CIRCLE FUCK

Following a trickle of intriguing singles last year, including the interestingly titled 'Mortal Sport Argonaut/Super Natural Teeth' and the Goat Girl featuring 'Feelz Hz', Bristol ensemble Pet Shimmers have just announced their debut album Face Down in Meta. Introduced by another boldly named cut, 'Post-Dick Circle Fuck' see's the seven piece pursuing their characteristically lo-fi sound, coined by band leader Oliver Wilde. Steeped in nostalgia, 'Post-Dick Circle Fuck' hints towards elements of Arcade Fire's seminal 2010 album The Suburbs, featuring stirring strings, frantic guitars and driving drums. Drowned in effects, the textural vocals sit barely above the rest of the mix, allowing just enough clarity to deliver the track's melancholy hooks. Arriving alongside a feel-good DIY video the band explain: "‘Post-Dick Circle Fuck’, (is) our questionable attempt to tap dance our deep waders through themes of self-love and the harmful spirits found within the pursuit of perfection". -Holly Mullineaux
