PELUCHé TO BE A BIRD

It's a hard task to place London's Peluché into any particular genre or box, and that's probably what makes them one of the most underrated acts in the capital. This trio of talented young women have been making experimental pop music that dips its toe into jazz, psych and even world music on occasions but never fully jumps in. We figured it'd be hard to top their hypnotic Speedy Wunderground single 'The Guy With The Gammy Eye' and stunning 2016 EP Utopia, but alas we were wrong. Peluché's brand new single 'To Be A Bird' is an incredible combination of earthy bass grooves, heavily-delayed clarinet parts, shuffling drums and funky off-beat guitar strums. Lyrically, 'To Be A Bird' addresses the everyday struggles of being a woman and the judging voices that continually condition us to believe that we need certain things to make ourselves happier or more attractive. If you listen to one song today, make it this one. -Holly Mullineaux
