PELL TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING

New Orleans rapper Pell has released brand new album, Gravity, with the intention of staying grounded; a possible precaution to his due success. Alongside the record comes surefire bop ‘Too Much Of A Good Thing’. The upbeat vibe of this hip-hop, RnB, future-soul and contemporary pop influenced track reflects the all-consuming, intoxicated feeling of being so deep into a passionate relationship that little else matters. It was Pell himself who wrote the concept behind this Dominic Scott-directed video, as he explains, the “video is about how most of us are just creatures of habit. The bed was painted cloud colors because it feels like a dream when things are going too good and you’re in so deep that you can’t see anything else. The interaction between us revolves around the bed and the booze - these things led us into a relationship that we can’t see out of.” By parallel, it’s all too easy to become lost in the soulful flow and pulsating beatwork of ‘Too Much Of A Good Thing’, but it feels too good to resist. - Hannah Thacker
