PARKER HIGH

Resulting from teen angst and an existential crisis upon leaving Australia for the UK, Parker searches for escapism in brooding new single ‘High’. Immediately luscious with dark-pop grooves and Parker’s breathy vocals, the production zooms in and out of focus on the song’s isolated thought stream. With the shadowy taint of Daughter and the drama of New Zealand’s So Below, this emerging artist exclaims that she’s “searching for a different kind of high, no I’m searching for another reason why, I’m not just another body in the night searching for a different kind of high.” Speaking about the process behind ‘High’, Parker says that "I wrote 'High' a few years ago, when I’d first moved to London and recorded it with Rupert (Lyddon) in his studio. The song came out of a general teen angst phase, I was going out a lot and having my ‘is this all there is’ moment. I’m fascinated by people’s need for escapism (including my own) and I guess the song is about the juxtaposition of being young and having all these big dreams but then being scared, so I’d just run away from them instead." Let’s escape with Parker. - HT
