LIST PICK

ONUR WHAT U DO

Following up on A Millenial Rhapsody EP, which featured List Pick ‘Beautiful Time’, London’s ONUR is back with more of his distinct upbeat soul flavour in ‘What U Do’. It’s one of those tracks that you put on for an instant pick-me-up. Run out of coffee? Stayed up past your bedtime? Don’t worry, just stick ‘What U Do’ on your speakers and you’ll be living in no time. It’s a vivacious combination of contemporary jazz brass, slick electric guitar, cool pop production and ONUR’s soul-laden voice. Interestingly, the track was co-produced by Max Marlow, the man behind Declan McKenna’s career-making track ‘Brazil’, who ONUR met while studying at the university where Marlow was a music technician. As a musician who didn’t pick up his first instrument until he was 18-years-old, we’re glad to see that the now 23-year-old is keeping things as unconventional as ever. While ONUR is heading off to America for his next few performances, he’ll be returning to the UK to present ‘What U Do’ on the London stage of Amersham Arms for a new concert on November 13th. Consider this space watched. - Hannah Thacker
