OLIVER WILDE BLIT SCRATCH

'Blit Scratch' is the latest piece of gently mind-bending music from the brilliant mind of Oliver Wilde. Following-on from comeback single 'Bifida', this new one feels like a psych-infused nod to Elliott Smith, with its washed-out, acid-pop hue, as Wilde's haunting layered vocal builds up to the increasingly glitchy rhythms. It is the track's chorus centred around the "I'm sure we'll get along just fine / Little machine of mine" lyric, that begs to be returned to. Describing ‘Blit Scratch’ as "the sound the cardiac monitors play as I make best friends with ICD, the horse kick altruist," it's clear the self-imposed two year hiatus has done nothing to stem Wilde's wonderfully out-there approach; we're lucky to have the talented Bristolian back. -G.O'B
