You know that Australians do electronic music like no-one else, and while we’re quite happy dancing along to Feki’s upbeat tune ‘Don’t Doubt’ this morning, we also appreciative of those quieter production moments from Sydney-based artist Oliver Tank. His style is synonymous with sombre ambience, as we hear in the shimmering mirage of a track ‘Make Believe’. The Aussie producer transports us to a plain of endless possibilities, with floating vocal samples, echoed beats, reverberated guitar, multi-layered keys, all put together in this hazy mix. A man of few words, Tank repeats but one sentiment: “I can do anything.” It’s a different kind of motivation to that of bright, sparkly pop-dance tracks; it’s the kind of quiet reassurance that listeners may just need.
