With a handful of online listeners, it’s safe to say that Ocie Elliott are still very much a well kept secret in folk music circles. Whether you’re a folk fan or not, you’ll struggle to resist the blissful simplicity and genuine feeling of Sierra Lundy and Jon Middleton, who met on Salt Spring Island in the summer of 2012 and started singing together three years later. Now based out of Victoria, British Columbia, the pair recently uploaded three gorgeous acoustic songs to their SoundCloud, our personal favourite being ‘I Got You, Honey’. With a simple, Americana acoustic guitar melody set to repeat through the track, the equally talented duo narrate a love story of contented completeness. The real beauty here has to lie in Lundy and Middleton’s vocals; the former possessing a crystalline, Gaelic touch and the latter complementing with a soft, country-edged rasp.
