Experimental South London outfit Nukuluk placed themselves firmly on our radar when they gave an arresting opening set for Lol K at Bermondsey’s Avalon Cafe just a month or two ago. Laying down the gauntlet, their onomatopoeically-titled debut single ‘Ooh Ah’, is a tantalising listen. Fusing dystopian production with impassioned lyricism and an explosive style of vocal delivery, the dynamic offering hits hard in all the right spots, knocking you for six before taking a disorientating u-turn into the surreal towards the end. Arriving alongside a considered and extremely well-executed video, Nukuluk’s artistic vision is bold and uncompromising, despite their newly established status.
