Easily one of the most exciting rappers to emerge of late, is Chicago's Noname. Effortless flow, intriguing delivery, sensationally crafted lyrics - it's what we've come to expect since she first came to prominence, as a result of her 2013-feature on Chance the Rapper's Acid Rap mixtape. Yesterday Noname finally released her long-awaited debut solo-project Telefone, and it does not disappoint. We've picked out a highlight to share with you - 'Sunny Duet' (feat. fellow Chicagoans, theMIND) but it's absolutely worth diving into the full release here. Track #2 on the release - the aforementioned 'Sunny Duet' pairs flowery piano trickles alongside glitchy percussion - with Noname's dulcet vocal delivery sprinkled on top. Don't be fooled though, Noname is no soft touch - "approach me with caution / I come with a warning" she spurts at the end of her first verse. A certain degree of caution is probably advised with Noname's work, as it's not your every-day hip-hop, but it's without doubt a take on the genre that is supremely enjoyable, and wonderfully immersive.
