Southampton's Mystic Peach have recently established themselves as the go-to local support for any psychedelic or indie-leaning touring bands that venture into the area. With little else known about the band except their notable billings with the likes of Iguana Death Cult, Yowl, Lice and Spinning Coin, their debut single 'Downtown' comes as a pleasant surprise. Taking inspiration from everything from grunge to psychedelia and the rowdy British indie movement in the late noughties, 'Downtown' is a melodic slice of indie rock which walks the line between Britpop and Dreampop. The meaty chorus wakes you up from the gentle haze of the verses with its Oasis-like anthemic snarl that'll embed itself in your memory for hours. 'Downtown' is out now on Honeymooner Records. -HLMX
