Sweden’s MIYNT returns this week with another slice of intelligent, alternative electro-pop. According to the Stockholm-based artist - new single ‘Cool’ is “a song about being really, really restless and not having an air conditioner,” - probably the first great pop song about air conditioning. But let’s forget about the supposed lyrical meaning here, because let’s face it, regardless of whether or not MIYNT eventually invests in some air-conditioning, she’s going to be pretty cool whatever happens. With a supremely fresh and inventive approach to pop-songwriting, she incorporates slinky guitar chords into a spinning electronically-bolstered instrumental backing, and the results are spectacular. ‘Cool’ is lifted from her debut EP, titled EP no. 1 (of course) - and it’s due for release on September 16th via the ever-dependable B3SCI Records. -JC
