Mitski - full name Mitski Miyawaki - has shared a new piece of blisteringly anthemic, explosive, grunge-tinged alt. rock, the first taste of her forthcoming Puberty 2 album, due 17th June 2016 via Dead Oceans (Destroyer, Kevin Morby). Tongue firmly and typically in cheek, the “half Japanese, half American but not fully either" artist is following-up acclaimed 2014 full-length Bury Me At Makeout Creek with 'Your Best American Girl', which she describes as being "hammed up to the tropes". Fans of her initial outings will recognise this sense of fun that she somehow manages to marry with dark, poetic undertones and powerful instrumentation in a recipe as inspiring as it is subtly amusing. With SXSW dates in the pipeline and a raw and emotionally-charged show set for London's Birthdays on 19th April, Mitski is once again doing things her way and it's nothing short of spectacular. -G.O'B
