DAMA SCOUT MILKY MILK

Forever keeping us on our toes with their beyond alternative creations like ‘Sugar’ and ‘Toothache’, UK band Dama Scout have poured a glass of ‘Milky Milk’ for our eager ears. It’s a slow-motion track of major fuzz, lazy drum hits, and passive vocals that describe feelings of disconnect. Perhaps the song’s title refers to the alternative name for fentanyl - this is never directly expressed, but you have to wonder that the dreamy, out-of-focus nature. It’s certainly hallucinogenic. Continuing down the rabbit hole, the trio provide an intriguing narrative to the new track: “Milky Milk is a song about making the most of fleeting happiness and accepting its irregularity. We move from the intimacy of Eva’s voice into noisy sections whilst keeping the arrangement simple and live with few overdubs. Instead of a vocal chorus we chose to play a straightforward major scale in unison washed in doom and sludge.” - Hannah Thacker
